The Driftwood Series tables are constructed from Maine driftwood and custom or remnant tiles framed with rough cut lumber. Each piece of driftwood is hand selected. Species vary from birch, ash, pine, oak, maple and cedar. Tiles are set on plywood with Flexbond® mortar and grouted. Porous tiles are sealed with acrylic sealer and all grout lines are sealed with silicone.

The Maple Series tables were constructed with 6X6 Celtic Porcelain tiles found in the back room of a local tile store. The gray and blue earth toned tiles provided the perfect texture to accent the rough cut frame and branch leg tables. The legs of each table were custom designed with naturally preserved branches from New England coastline driftwood or storm damaged Japanese Red Maple branches from the 90+ year old trees in front of our house.

Commissioned Pieces are tables customers have requested and, in some cases, participated in their design. The display tables were built for a customer who had jars and jars of sea glass he had collected along the Maine coastline. Working together we were able to create an appealing, complimentary and forever functional means of displaying the collection. Another customer had recently moved from their house of 35 years into a city apartment. Wood from the home was used to frame the tiles of their table and now they have an enduring work of art and personal history adorning their new home.  Customers are encouraged to bring their own ideas and unique tiles or other materials to Rough Cuts Woodworking so that their pieces are personal as well as attractive additions to their homes.
